I did mine 10 days ago and recon I will have to go again tomorrowMangineese deficiency in winter barley, only one field thankfully. I should have copped it sooner has a bit of damage done. I can honestly say I have never seen it in that field before and its in continuous tillage since the mid sixties.View attachment 62295 View attachment 62296
I have WB in some very Mang defficency prone ground, did it with manganese sulphate the minute I could see tramlines, no issues so far. Will treat again with mixable product with growth reg in Feb. manganese sulphate is great stuff if you have an issue especially if used early, I'd spray onto soil before setting beet or maize in some fields.
Thinking of going with 1 bag/acre 10-10-20 during the week, weather permitting. It’s very advanced and don’t really want it growing too more at the minute but am concerned about losing tillers in such an advanced crop.
Is it land that holds up well, I’d be trying to hold for another 2 weeks if possible. If it very heavy land hold your nerve and go as late as you can before doing to much harmAnother one...

@Hardysplicer has got at you. He must still have the negatives of you admiring a Topdown .I’d agree with that.
If it’s that lush I’d let it get hungry looking first

How much N is in the Ground . I would think a lot and I am thinking of cutting back N use particularly with fields with a history of lodging.Mine a few hours ago in fading light It reminds me of stuff that's had it's first nitrogen and starting to perk up!
I'm thinking there's residual nitrogen left after the dry year. It was spring barley last year View attachment 62443
I was thinking the same thing today looking at the crops here at home. Add in the lower rainfall then usual as well and there's less leaching then other years.Mine a few hours ago in fading light It reminds me of stuff that's had it's first nitrogen and starting to perk up!

Planted on Halloween bank holiday weekend. Weeds I'll take on in spring. Kind of glad I waited a bit later to set it.
