Signal extender

I'm getting power from a shed attached to the house I ran a cable under the road.
Did you dig the road or pass it through a duct? If it’s through a duct could you pass a long Ethernet cable through?

To just send the signal as a wifi signal over that distance the only way really will be to put one of those antennas on the side of the house.

I dug the road and put down a duct.
Is that a phone line cable ? I won't be able to get that from the shed to the house then
 
I can't understand how there isn't a sort of little antenna I can plug into the house that will send the signal further with no wires or fuckal.
How do hotels and things do it ?
 
What distances are we talking about here?
Try one of these, just plug it in where the router is, one cable from the router into it and plug the receiver in the shed. Broadband goes over the power cables.

40m isn't a big distance. If you had your router high in the house, it might just reach the office at that distance but the speed wouldn't be great.

Personally, if you have a duct there, run an outside grade ethernet cable (network cable) that plugs into your router in the house run it to the office. You'll have the best speed possibly in that situation. You can clip the cable to a wall etc to keep it out of the way if the duct doesn't go all the way to the house.

They aren't great. I've used them in a few different locations in the same scenario as JD is in and they were poor at best.

My preferred option to run a duct and ethernet cable or the second option is the kit JD has above (nanostation or similar).

A TP Link think the model is AV600 will transmit the signal down the underground cable providing it hasn't to go through a fuse board in between. I did something similar and wired a socket just for the extender into the feed side of the fuse board on the receiving end.

Hotels would use antennas similar to what you have in the box above to send the signal at a higher strength. There’s probably one on each floor in bigger hotels but you wouldn’t see them as probably in the ceiling or somewhere out of site
 
Going to stick up a nanostation m2 as an access bridge across the yard. Does it matter if I use a CAT6/CAT7 or CAT8 cable to run from POE to m2? If using CAT6 for example, would the cable running from the POE to the router want to be CAT6 also?

CAT6 is good up to 10Gbps, which is plenty in a home/farm setting unless you are running a server farm.

All cables and equipment need to be CAT6/10Gbps capable to get the benefit. If you don't, it's like using 40mm pipe at both ends but having half inch inbetween. It will all still work but at a slower rate.
