Picking a new television

Have a Philips TV (July 2012) and aerial is inside in the attic.

TV is turned on in the evenings and is okay for 10 minutes and then up pops No Signal or Programme not found.

Turning it on and off then doesn't work either.

I've reinstalled all the channels and no better.

Checked all the wire going to the aerial and also thought it might be the end of the cable going into the TV so have stripped that back to new copper.

Nothing made any difference.

Anyone any other ideas for me to check?

Without any knowledge of such things it sounds for all the world like it's overheating.

Is it full up with dust? Happened with my laptop once. Took it apart and blew it out and away she went as good as new.
 
Could you connect another tv to the aerial at that location and it would help you figure out if it is the tv or the aerial?

There is only one TV in the house, we are not big viewers and certainly not in my case! But that's the next avenue.
 
Ours messed about when digital came in, ended up with an outside ariel from amazon, looks more like a gps unit than an ariel.

It's not turning off completely though which I think rules that out

It depends if the amp is actually powered from the same supply as tv maybe they switch it off and it only fails when it heats. It’s a stretch I agree…
