Different front wheels on the one on the front cover I thought

Nice fleet profile there too!

No point buying this months issue then  Have to wait until the put a decent tractor on the front cover

im not of a blue persuasion ever since i had two "unbreakable" majors blow up on me in a month  I prefer my engine blocks to be constructed out of iron, not swiss cheese or sponge like ford were fond of using:no:

And i also like to be able to select a gear without needing a PHd in geometry, something the rubik cube design fell pretty short on

Only minor little glitches  :whistling:

I spent a whole week on a 76 with a rubik box, and another few days on a 78, im still having nightmares about it now  There was a plus side, it was the middle of winter and i was on pay from 7am, but neither of the b***dy things would start while there was a frost on the bonnet, so i never used to get going till 10am or later!

We won't mention DB's with cranks breaking.

Needing to be a gymnast to get in the cab.

Unvoluted 3 gear lever changes!

No getting away from the porous blocks in fairness, although I dont think the 7810 suffered too badly on that score. You are going back a bit with the majors though!
I wouldnt really be a fan of the smaller fords myself, I think Massey were better in the smaller tractors.

Careful now! :whistling:

Had Majors here up to 15 years ago and could never complain about them.

Not many tractors you could double or treble the power and still expect them to keep going.

Cranks were an issue, but a crank was cheaper than an entire engine block if you was unlucky enough to own a ford.

3 lever gears are easy if your on them every day, just no good for occasional drivers  90s were a bit hit and miss as neither range levers had markings on, they did solve that on the 94s

Only thing il say about our cabs is the door slam pin is in the perfect place to rip the pocket out of your overalls if your getting out in a hurry, ive very often came out the cab and left half my overalls in there!

I bought one when i was 16, it siezed solid and spat a rod out the side when the teeth stripped on the injector pump/oil pump drive

Bought another one with a view to making a good un out of the pair, that self destructed on a 3m powerharrow

Broke the pair for spares, got my money back and bought a proper tractor next time

No experience whatsover with Majors, the little experience Ive had with Dextas lead me to believe that the 35 was a better tractor :001_unsure:

Il agree on that mike, i had a 3cyl 35 and loved it, gear ratios are better than a dexta, they start better, and MF hydraulics are far superior to the dexta in every way

Massey's had the better engine too. Way cleaner than fords

Reckon if i listed my least favourite machinery preferences and dislikes in full id get thrown off this forum  (Ford, KV, Claas, Hardi......i could go on)

And the 35 had a far better gear selector set up :whistling:
