You might as well be using that diet feeder for something. What would the cost of materials per m be doing it yourself

To make a cub m of 35n we need

600 kgs of Cement
300 kgs of Sand
1200 kgs of Stone
270 kgs of water


So it all comes down to if you can buy cement cheap, either in bulk which wont work for most of us, or are ton bags available somewhere that offer significant saving over 25kg bags

Ready-mix will still be cheaper than the cement alone I bet.

€8.45 incl locally per bag of cement so thatd be coming in at €200 alone for cement

That seems an awful amount of cement for a meter of concrete? I’d be thinking it would nearly be half that, or maybe a little more.

I would agree.
275 kg per metre I seem to remember, from a man building slatted tanks with a Merlo self propelled mixer in the late 70s early 80s .

I stand corrected said the man in the orthopedic shoes. I doubled up on cement when I was going from the ratio, to kgs per cubic meter


35n concrete has 300kgs of cement per meter. considering its about €8.50 per 25kgs bag, the concrete companies must be able to buy it at about half the price

Every concrete plant has there own recipe for concrete . There all cutting corner`s some where or adding something cheaper to cut down on the volume of cement they need to make the mix cheaper for them . I know there`s one plant in limerick that will have there concrete only reach full strenght for cube testing a day or 2 before it`s acceptable . ( There suppliying alot of city infrastructure project`s same plant has a lot of issue`s with concrete cracking ) Compare to another that has concrete at full strenght after 3 wk`s . Lime dust is supposedly added by another issue with that is goes off very fast once water is added on site .
 
Bought a pallet in Jan. Just over €600 including the deposit for the pallet, all dropped in the yard.

€7.38 a bag all inclusive of VAT.

I bought a lorry of concrete gravel whist I was at it for the love of hardship. The local quarry tipped in the yard. €20.90 Inc vat per tonne.

That's the amount of cement for a depending on the strength.

For C30 it would be €136 for cement, €37 for the aggregate.

€174 Inc vat per M3 not including the cost of mixing and cleaning down the equipment etc.


1:2:3 concrete mixed by volume is C23. It comes to about €150/m³.

I know who you are talking about well, with those issues, the main Roadstone plant when it was family owned, there salesman always said there concrete tested much higher than was needed due to the limestone in the mix, not sure if this was true or not, but it was savage stuff to have to break out. I assume nowadays with Roadstone, it just barely meets the standard

Fortunately or unfortunately it’s something I don’t actually know at the moment, last stuff here was poured in 23 I think so a long way out by now

Local plant used to use beach sand/pebble years ago around here. It’s the toughest stuff you’d ever have the misfortune of trying to do anything with. Dad spent a solid day on a breaker just to get a pillar out of a 2ft cube of concrete in the floor of the shed here, and myself and 2 mates went at the floor of a shed with a consaw one night, about 25ft of a cut with plenty of water and the brand new blade we put on saw starting off was completely gone, as in no diamond left on it at all

Hadn’t a clue when you asked the other day but happened to be chatting to the lads that do any of our walls today and they said they think €162ish inc if you were to ring
 
Hear there is a bit of price cutting goin on at the minute amoung the concrete manufactures in the tendering for major contracts as there is big competition out there .Construction work is tightening up big time in both the uk and the states,no doubt it will hit here too.
