There’s a ballot box use it, but once election is complete your stuck with what you voted in until it falls apart or next cycle. Ireland one of few countries that all governments transitioned seamlessly and that’s the way it should be.

You are of course correct but our present government is a combination of old civil war parties FF FG and all the old tensions that come with that and a handful of independents. There is a cold wind blowing (as you can detect from this forum) so just wondering what could go wrong?
 
3). Public apathy. Most on here are self employed hard working, head down drive on till the job is done type of people. However a large section of society are now getting a lot of money in their 9-5 jobs, and a significant portion of that are getting paid by the government. They are literally oblivious to the trials and tribulations of running a small business

I don't agree, i think people are very aware, and i don't mean to be rude but I think you are mistaken by how well off those in 9-5 jobs are, in my experience no one i know is well off, I have 2 people from my class in school that own houses that they didn't inherit, one was a repossession bought from the bank that their cousin owned, the other was an unfinished project forced sale and cost 150k. everyone else that has one inherited it, a few rent some live with parents. one fella rented since he was 21, probably talking 120k paid in rent, living with his fiance and 2 children(one his) now they split up, mostly stressed out financial pressures, he earns around 70k, but i had to give him a lend to get over Christmas, because 70k sounds good, but you take tax and mandatory pay through pension and options in the company, he's over 30k sitting he can't touch he's only worked there 2 or 3 years. My brother is an accountant in London, 25kstg.

I’ve never voted FF and can’t understand how anyone can.
But forum is bit of a hollow echo chamber, lot of blaming Wokeness, lefties and like of Aontu / independent Ireland being the answer as understand some vision of Ireland. These parties will never be an alternative, as majority of this country is liberal looking forward not this looking backward to something that never existed nonsense.

You’re right and I didn’t expand on the point enough, there are a lot people under pressure like you state, but there are a lot of people working in multi nationals earning huge salaries relatively easily. I have seen it first hand and been part of it. I should have clarified that in my post

She was extremely well spoken and calm, exactly the type they wouldn't like on the radio. She completely drew him in and handed it to him, couldn't get her off fast enough. Also the auld lad on before her nearly gave himself a heart attack live on radio you knew he was definitely a retired civil servant of some description who probably couldn't get petrol to cut his lawn for the 4th time this week.

Don’t really believe they do either, well Aontu maybe do in that they are right wing conservative who wouldn’t really show full colours.
Tbh independent Ireland see as an extension of councilors we all have all over the country, the independent fella that will get the pot holes filled and happy to support any local populate action probably started in one.

Six years ago I think sinn fein topped the polls but they didn't form a government.

You are of course entitled to your opinion and I would strongly defend your right to hold However some on here hold different positions to your own and after these latest actions and protests they will have become heavily politiced and could very well promote and vote for these hollow and backward looking politician parties you refer to and give them a go at running the place Its up or down after that and...... thats really what democracy is about after all.

FF supporters 18% of them support the actions
FG supporters 15%
Labour 43%
Soc Dems 38%
Independents 77%
Aontu 97%
SF 99%
Greens 20%

I may not have the exact percentages but close enough I think.
Our poll here shows a completely different figure so we must all be mad republicans or crazy right wing nutjobs

I don’t think it’s fair to label this forum as a hollow echo chamber.

There is plenty of disagreement on topics but that is part of the spice of life.

We strive to maintain respectful, balanced and open dialogue and have banned members in the past who crossed that line.

Heck, my shedding sheep are even tolerated…

If your going to tell a lie, at least make it halfbeliveable, was it the Irish independant survey, your misquoting above, you played a lovely trick re ff/fg supporters the caveat been a good % of people in the poll who historically where arent anymore

You having a laugh, it was used in the context of one topic not as multi forum topic comment.

Might want to check yourself there nothing disrespectful in my comment was a use of language to explain a situation. While you re comment is actually quiet disrespectful but I don’t believe you meant it, I ill give you benefit of the doubt

Dont shoot the messenger here I'm only relaying what I heard on RTEs Brendan O Connor show.
I'm not in the habit of telling lies so don't accuse me of such and whatever bee you have in your bonnet get rid of it and stop trolling

I’m quite serious - we have purposefully avoided taking sponsorship and pay the running costs of this forum from our own pockets. Some members have donated to help contribute to the running costs which is very much appreciated but we are clear to note it does not affect our judgement when it comes to moderating the content.

There are certainly discussion forums that are echo chambers which in my mind is not a useful endeavour. On the contrary, the free exchange of ideas is something worthwhile to facilitate.
