Ford ranger vs hilux

I want to buy a new jeep mabye not brand new if not 2/3 years old max with low km currently have a Land Cruiser. I don’t know which to go for. Ive driven both pulling 3tonne diggers and I do believe the ranger was a lot smoother on the road and nicer to drive. (Both were automatic). I know the older rangers were troublesome but I thought they had that corrected as the neighbour has 1 with 3 years and it’s perfect((apparently))). Does any1 have any reasons y they wud or wudnt go for 1 or the other
 
Personally I'd go with the Toyota, I know two people with pretty new rangers, both had replacement engines. With Toyota if you get your jeep serviced at the main dealer they extend the warranty to 10 years or 180,000 kms. Just on the second hand, I see a lot of jap import hiluxs with the 2.4 diesel instead of the 2.8. so 150 hp vs 200hp. Something to be aware of. Also a lot of the nearly new hiluxs advertised are very close to new money. There's a new model coming in a few months so there might be deals to be done on stock current model.
I'd price a new one and see from there
 
I just looked at the Toyota website and they have the new model up with prices, I'd talk to your local dealer and see if there's offers on new old stock

Sound alot going on at the moment that’s y we Dno if wel go new or not but I’d b pulling diggers a lot that’s y new wud probably b better

You'd want to check if either vehicle is plated to pull a 3 ton digger plus buckets and trailer. Somehow I'd be doubtful and if you're over the limit there's the possibility of a large fine and your insurance company not covering you in the event of an accident.

There not it’s the risk everyone pulling a digger of that size is taking I’m normally pulling a 2.7 tonne kubota with just a breaker on it so I’d say I’d b onside pulling that

They are plated for 3.5 ton I assume are they? Have an older ranger and it's plated for 3.5t.
 
Have a ranger here and it has the 10speed gear box. Bloody yoke when pulling a box of cows dosnt know what gear to go in. I drive it in manual when towing as it's either revved up to the 9s ina low gear or dieing in a high one. It's a fecker for jumping 2 gears at a time also

Buy that one. Get a good set of rubber mats, seat covers and steering wheel covers. Give the whole thing (except brakes and tyres obvs) a good flaking of rust preventer like XCP rust blocker once or twice a year and the power washer when the cow shite gets too thick.

Suck up the price of the main dealer and drop it into Toyota for servicing and get your extended warranty.

If you don't crash it you'll have solved the jeep problem for 20 years.



If you want trouble buy a Ford.

Ford engines in them I'm fairly sure.
Id be going for something in the 3.0 litre range if doing a lot of towing. 2.2 and 3.2 ranger here now and both will pull the same but 3.2 is much more comfortable doing it.
I know they are different engines to what you get now but still ...
 
I was reading recently thst people are saying that Isuzu have the edge on Toyota for long term reliability recently?

Just to throw a spanner in the works!

Think i would stick to Hilux though.
Had a 22 plate on loan when my 13 plate was getting a chassis.
It was some machine!

The new dmax are well regarded. Someone here has one. Can't remember who.
