Heatguard sheeting

It's probably been asked already but do these heat gaurd sheets drip?

I've asked AI does polycarbonate degrade in sunlight and the answer is yes. Which I thought anyway. I find it hard to believe some chemical coating added to polycarbonate would stop this UV damage. I've never seen any hard plastic that hasn't degraded over time in the outdoor elements.

I've a shed to reroof some time shortly that was done in Fibre cement and it lasted 40 years. I'd like the heatguard if it lasts as long as they claim
Claims to be non drip in a video I watched.

It has a lifetime too. I think 2010 when the really bad frost came that's when we started to notice the first of the sheets starting to perish. The sheets had frozen solid, I suppose any moisture laying on them might have opened up the sheets a bit when it went to -10 here. Moss that gathers doesn't help either

Could you not get it coated . I se a crowd on TikTok doing it .

I think it's past it's best. I used to feel safe walking along the purlins of the roof but I wouldn't go up on it now. I'd go for the heatguard as it's a machinery shed if I thought it was non drip and would do another 40years
 
was recommended to drill 8 or 10mm hole for the screw to allow expansion. Have asked about walking on it and it wasn't recommended but a video on youtube said you could.

was never a fan of fibre cement, fitted one roof for a man and just couldn't see the advantage as I Couldn't see how you would know if it was done or how to repair if it got damaged, pricey too.


At this stage I would think there is quite a bit of the heatguard fitted, some right some wrong, dont think the garantee will be worth anything if it was needed to be called on.
 
It's still relatively unproven and cant be used for solar installations which is effectively limiting the generation of passive income.

Said 2-3000 in Sean Collins video. Surprising to hear a quite contrasting number.
Sean Collins had a stand at the farm machinery show in Millstreet, selling merchandise.
I haven't come across him before.
Is he another Farmer Phil type, social media personality?
 
Ordinary sheeting and will put rolls of foil back insulation under it
The foil back insulation should be a big help to it.
Not that I am a Grassmen fan, the below video was on a clip, which popped up, on my phone.
There was a discussion about clear sheets in the side of z shed verses the roof, in a thread here, at one point. The big machinery shed, the 2 lads in the video are standing in, has clear sheets in the sides of the shed only, and none in the roof. While they are a big help, the shed is still dark inside it. The clear sheets in the roof definitely make a huge difference to adding natural light, to a building.
 
The foil back insulation should be a big help to it.

I've a machinery shed done similar to Jonny's , with nondrip roof and clear sheets in 3 sides. Don't find it that dark but it's 17ft to the eaves.

It's a fair height up so was slow to go with clear sheets in the roof regardless of the non drip.

That is a decent height of a shed.
The additional height must make a massive difference, to getting light in.
What span is the portal frame in your shed?
Jonnie's shed has a serious span, but it is dark inside it, especially if one was using it a workshop, to work in all day.
I have been in the Jamestown Manufacturing building (old Butler Siac premises) in Portarlington a few times.
It is a massive building with a very high eaves height, but also a very wide portal span.
There are only windows, high up, in the sides of it, with nothing in the roof. I always found it dark inside the building, anytime I visited.
I have already mentioned a friend of mine will be getting a 60'x40', A frame portal shed in May. He is going with 16' to the eaves, clear sheets in the sides, and insulated cladding on the roof and sides. I am very interested to see it, when it is completed, to see how it fares out. light wise.
I think the snow white backing on the insulated cladding will be a big help to reflect light.

60x51, 3 bays with galvanised purloins throughout which I also think helps to brighten it up.

That is a decent size of a shed.
Yes, I would concur with you, the steel purlins would be a good help too, more especially the white coloured Agri purlins.
 
Have to order them that length I think
are they likely to cut the angle to match the roof and seal it?

if a roof is over 18ft and not spaced there would be 4 layers over lapped at sheet joints, 2 bottom, 2 top. Have been told to cut like its fiber cement and also just over lap and not cut, assuming its not spaced sheeted.
