NZ South Island Sheep men

Question for our antipodean members,

There is a lady walks round the footpaths near me, and stops for a chat now and then, nice lady, She has always shown interest in the sheep, and told me she spent about 4 yrs on and off in South Island, up in the High Country as she called it. On a sheep station
Today she brought me some photos and told me a little more,
The station she lived at was owned By a Arthur Urquhart, Father to Colin and Alisdair, an ex scotsman, and a Highly regarded Merino Breeder, By all accounts, I understand Arthur is now deceased, but his 2 sons are still there, She would love any info anyone may have.
When I see her next, I will ask may I borrow her pictures to scan them, the Merino sheep in the pics today were awsome, real beauties, also old pics of shearing, and grading fleece.

Seemed a real forward thinking bloke.

Wife and self went up to Erewon Station back in 2002/3 as she is a real Tolken fanatic and we had to see where Rohan from Lord of the Rings was filmed. Really beautiful scenery but you would have to be hard as nails to live and work there. Spoke to the lady of the house but everyone else out mustering.

Thanks for that I shall print it out for her, she did say they were good times, and that the steading had no "services" but it sounds as if she had real fond memories, one day when I have more time I shall sit down with her and record some of her memories, she is a real interesting lady, and very well travelled.
Some where else she mentioned was "ercott" (spelling?):001_unsure:

theres a newer book and the writer in that link

used to work with 1000's of merinos both in NZ and in Oz last lot i worked with was in footrot tests and had a few 1000 ram lambs to tip off checking feet recording and culling them down to footrot free studs ..
