Parcel motel for package from uk

What’s the story with crowds in the north offering the parcel motel type service?
Theres an item I am looking to buy from the uk, around €350, would be a very small parcel,
Has anyone in the south used these crowds to get something delivered?
Is there customs to be paid for something going from the uk into northern Ireland?
Thanks

None, use a crowd in Belcoo a fair bit. Was very unorganised at the start with a few parcels temporarily misplaced but turned up eventually. They seem to have a better set up now.

Iv used them on a few occasions, happy enough but youd have to message them to see if the parcel landed, even after a day or two of getting a notification from sender saying it was delivered,
Bought an item maybe worth £450/500 and got notification from uk seller to say it was delivered, messaged them the next day to see did they want payment, said it never landed…. I started to sweat…. Messaged them a day or two latrr, said still no sign, eventually they said they found it,forwarded it on with no bother then but i was starting to panic

Was this your experience every time you used them, or just a once off? I always got a text almost as soon as the item is delivered.

roughly id say iv used the 5/6 times and id say 3/4 of the times i had to enquire, twice they said they couldnt find it,but iv got my parcel every time, but it wouldnt fill you with confidence, but ill probably still use them again

Used border motel Belcoo a few times, usually €14ish to have the parcel forwarded onto you. No import taxes. Would want to keep an eye on the tracking from UK and be sending a text but usually they’ll text you.

I wouldn’t be trying to buy cordless batteries for tools as they might not get shipped.

An post are getting greedy with their administration fees for collecting taxes, could end up paying a tenner and the tax might only be a euro.

Do ya need an address in north Ireland

No complaints regarding Belcoo. Far cheaper and faster than An Post Addresspal as said already.

They forward your parcels if you cannot collect. Even Royal Mail were acting the maggot recently and they sorted the fee for me. Once you have the address correct for the seller then all is good.
