Have calf bought in spring from dairy herd, whom has never done any good and has profuse scour and despite being done with everything and anything and has made no difference.Wondering now miight it be bvd and if I get him tested and it turns out to be positive what are the consequences for my herd.

Could it be Johne's?
We saw a bullock scouring two weeks ago, (24 months+ old though) horrible bubbly scour.
Got a sample and took it to the vets, turned out to be Johnes as suspected. He'll be gone next load even though he isn't near fat.

Tends to affect older animals I think, how old is urs?

Either way, get him tested, if it is bvd you will want to know to keep on top of it in any other animals infected by it

Have a similar 2yr old animal at the moment. Have it penned down a kidney damage. She is on very long term antibiotics, and is a little improved. Give her fresh ivy each day.

About 10mths.Is there any compensation if it turns out to be positive for bvd.what is test for John’s disease

Had crypto earlier in year and has been done for coccidiosis twice as he had the scour similar to coccidiosis

chances are he will never do any good. probaly alot of damage done to the gut the time he had cyrpto.they never do much good after a bad dose of it if they do survive.
you can blood test for johnes but there not generally done til a 2 yr old ,doubt if he would have picked up bvd but if he had it should be night night straight away
