What are you up to in the workshop?

The spools on mine leaked back, everything dropped or opened, was told I should have specced 300s.

What parts are available on JD parts?

I doubt you can mix and match spools.

You can mix and match certain spools, cant remember exactly what ones though, we needed 2 tractors fitted with 300's for the drill, onre tractor it just bolted on, other one needed the pair changed.

Managed to catch the top of the new big bag hoist off a rafter. No damage to the rafter or the hydraulic hose.

To my dismay it was the threaded joint on the ram that suffered. Would have been simpler if the joiner on the hose had broken.

Sourced a new weld on fitting. Luckily ordered a few of them (tiny cost) as the first one leaked due to oil contamination in my weld.
I put a little screw in the hole while cutting off the old fitting to minimize any grit getting into the ram.

Second time round it’s leak proof. Got a new welding mask before welding the second one, made a massive difference as my old mask was very hard to see through.

Job done.

Tasty job

Carlow engineering was always superior to Wexford engineering. We made this up when I was Carlow’s second best livestock farmer and before I discovered the Bohemian lifestyle of a Tillage farmer .
Melted sticky Mars Bar for guessing the source of the materials.

Knocked up a spinning jenny today to roll out a few rolls of fencing wire, few pieces of scrap converted nicely and have it mounted on the loader for handiness. Should be able to roll up old wire too using the central winding handle...

Variator pulley sheaves from a combine??

I saw a lad on YouTube raving about square steel stakes for concrete form pegs.

Having watched a few of his videos they do look mighty useful. In the states they are something you could buy in a builders providers but I've never seen them before over here.

Two lengths of 20mm bar will give me 16 stakes, eight holes in each one.

I have a job or two coming up, they don't need forms but will need props so decided to knock out a set.

Also tweaking some 6inch gate hangers to fit around 6inch pipe. (6.5 inch outside)

Going to be hanging a 16 foot heavy gibney gate off it, I think filling the pipe with concrete might be no harm. It's a fine piece of pipe, but a decent lump of a gate too.

nearly 18 months ago I got a notion to make some fancy stakes for securing concrete forms based on a vid I'd seen on youtube. last week I was making some steps outside the back door at home, a job that required a reasonable degree of accuracy in the formwork so I got to try out the pegs.

I thought they were the absoulte business. I was going into some very hard ground so much more easily driven than a 2x2, the way you could really screw them tight to the form, the solidity of the whole formwork when done, the ease of adjustment and tweaking when setting up by myself, everything was just easier with them. I have 16 from 2 sticks of steel and think they were a very worthwhile investment.

Although in the interests of full disclosure I would also point out it's not that hard to drive a pointy piece of 20mm steel through a soil pipe :blushing:

Could you take another pic of those pins.
What shape of steel are the.??

So. Was going to put up a bit of a fence to toddler proof the place.
Learnt not to bother with these yokes
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marko-Gard...vlocphy=20343&hvtargid=pla-908216637272&psc=1

The spikes with a bit of box on top for the post.
The time I took to try and get the first one lined up and in the correct place was enough to dig a hole and make concrete for the post!!

Probably ok in nice stone free soil.

Plus they are very flimzy once in. No good for a windy place like here!!

Just put an electric fence up,kids soon learn to keep away.
