Any variety that would be better in slightly heavier ground?

Planet would be the most vigorous of them all so best suited. As @gone righty said, it needs to be treated carefully if in a very fertile spot.

Virtually nothing to be honest. Gangway has better straw though.

Sowing Irena since it came out with constantly good yields here. Lovely straw off it as well. Stands well as well.

Sound for the advice Sowed 15 acres of gangway today, weather seems to be breaking down tomorrow lunchtime so that will put a halt to the fieldwork for a while

Friend of mine has grown it for the last couple of years now and is very happy with it. He rates it better then Irina which is saying something as he's a stickler for doing things right.

I hope so, I have 37ac of it sown, first time to try it. Seed looked nice anyway.

its a home made job from the foulkesmill area it belonged to my late uncle, i was on the tanco 3 mtr, you,re not dealing with a small outfit here i,ll have you know

no i think the family did it themselves (monaghans ), i had the tsa just to give her a run out of the yard ( minus the loader of course :sneaky:) i,m trying to keep the hours down on the 110 as she puts up more than other tractor here :wub:

You don't need new machines to grow a good crop. Neighbor here uses a 42 year old Ford 66 and a manual fold up sprayer. Best of crops.

There's plenty of hope for me yet So. 40 year old Ford 3600 and 33yr old Hardi sprayer
