A record I would say?

He used to sow for two bachelor brothers that live up near Glynns . No revving and tearing but always got the job done . I often saw him going with loads of straw usually small bales . Have we lost something in those 58 years . Is he still doing it for the same price ?

Missed this at the time.
Nice and steady and no revving or tearing, as you say.
Yes, "we lost something over those 58 years", the ability to earn enough to raise a family off a 77 acre tillage and dry stock farm.
The price has risen a bit in the intervening years, I'm not sure 4s + 6d would get you much now, but I would bet he is still 1 of the cheapest contractors in the country.

The Winter Oats is looking well.
Gorze is in bloom still.

Nice looking beet basket there, did it work out ok?

Working great. Don't be long loading a trailer at all with it. It's a perfect size for the 135. Not to big but yet big enough to hold a nice bucket full

Sprayed the Oats and the wheat today, both are looking very well, a few pics of the later sown and more backward field of Oats.

We cut a bit of wheat with the binder today.
My Grandfather bought this binder in 1943.
The present owner sowed (his 58th year in a row to sow on this farm without fail), sprayed and now cut this wheat.

Season 59 and going strong.

Here's my low compaction, non scientific combination from the Ferguson stable! Tractor is in its 61st year and the MF30 is in its 33rd year, both in perfect working order. They don't work together as a combo though-the hills around here would be a bit much for the Fergies 26 hp!
MF30

Is that drill resprayed MF30. A credit to you either way. I note the double rams for the tramlines as well.

Thanks diesel power, yes we gave the drill a paint job and a few extras 3 years ago, the tramlines will just take a 12 inch tractor wheel with crop dividers, I'm on 15 metre tramlines so not too concerned about wide tramline tracks. Tramline wheel is missing from the picture, have it in the workshop copying it to make a few more.

Jesus it looks fair well:thumbup:. Our own drill was modified to do 15m tramlines by it's PO but we work on 12's ourselves. Been meaning to look up a 12m tramline wheel. If you had one I'd be interested. Also the valve thing the wheel works on was acting up on ours last week and it wasn't tramlining at all for a while. I'd to get down and put in the blankers myself every tram run. Annoyance of the highest order:rolleyes:. Pm if you prefer.

diesel power, the drill looks even better in the flesh to be fair to MF30!

A minter indeed and to be fair he has one for sale at the minute which is very very clean indeed.
