We bought a new single row Armer in 1979 for £6000 and paid for it out of the Beet account. Our quota brought in £26000 that year and you could buy a house for £ 25k .the price !!!

What would the same amount of beet buy you now?We bought a new single row Armer in 1979 for £6000 and paid for it out of the Beet account. Our quota brought in £26000 that year and you could buy a house for £ 25k .
Clear it's costs and probably not a lot in terms of purchasing power by today's standards. What would the same amount of beet buy you now?
You would need about 400ac of beet to do that nowadays 🤪We bought a new single row Armer in 1979 for £6000 and paid for it out of the Beet account. Our quota brought in £26000 that year and you could buy a house for £ 25k .
What price was the new shaft? So as some of you might know i have a baler addiction, i thought we were making headway in getting through it but about a month ago i suffered a sudden and unexpected relapse. Was kinda thinking i ought to be upping the bale size to a 120x90 and with current baler getting ever nearer 100k bales something probably should be done. This appeared in a salvage auction as a insurance write off so i thought we were probably meant to be together!!

Bit strange or annoying depending how you look at it that a machine gets wrote off for what is actually a mechanical failure and in this case pretty much caused by the owner. The feed system on these can be prone to hurting themselves if not maintained and adjusted correctly, works well when right but utter carnage when not! The two arms on the broken shaft tend to jiggle loose on the splines, i usually tighten the clamping bolt a couple of times a season on mine and check it every time its greased, this baler has autolube so there's no need if your not of the mind to to actually have look round to see if there's anything wrong or starting to go wrong. Obviously through desperation they decided to weld the arms to the shaft, would of probably been ok with a couple of tacks but doing it right round is the ultimate sin, shaft broke then all hell let loose hence the straightening of the feeder fork yesterday.

The shaft must be serious hard cause the splines have actually come away......................View attachment 99319
Plan is to sell the john deere once done, with it being a 120x70 its the wrong size bale for what most want round here now.
£450 for the shaft, the two arms £400, this latching hook £100.........What price was the new shaft?
Anything else needed? The welding didn’t look great .
Just the feeder, no nothing went through, all the arms and things are on the outside. Is it just the feed mechanism broken or did the broken bits go through the rest of the machine?
I did hear about that back at harvest time, damage done but not major if I remember correct. I don't think it went in, luckily.Maybe @bagenal might know but I heard on the jungle telegraph that a girder went through a big square Baler in my neighbors . It apparently had been through a dung spreader previously. Neither would be messy workers.
I did a big job on a Krone 1290 big pack a couple of years ago. It came in with the whole side torn off the feeder housing. What made it worse was the VFs linkages are all on that side. Cut the side off it, straightened everything up and reinforced the weak part. Lick of Krone paint and surprisingly it never looked back and is still going. I’ve had just about every type of breakdown possible with claas quadrant 1150s. Head wrecker of a machineSo as some of you might know i have a baler addiction, i thought we were making headway in getting through it but about a month ago i suffered a sudden and unexpected relapse. Cut it off at the plug and bypass it with a spade or bullet connector is what i've done, the headlights on the steyr here cooked the terminal in that type of plug.Whats the best way to repair this connection on the a multi plug thats plugged into the circuit bord on the case cs. That pin thats burnt it the wire going down to the fuel pump.
Whip out the wire either side and join with a terminal block or a wago?Whats the best way to repair this connection on the a multi plug thats plugged into the circuit bord on the case cs. That pin thats burnt it the wire going down to the fuel pump.
Fancy a breeding pair, bought this one during the summer off a neighbour.
(You can never have too many tractors 🤣)
Needs lots of tidying but starts very sharp and tight gearbox. Don't know whether to scap the cab or fix. It's down as 1977 on the tax book but imported, @MeathMassey3 might verify it's age. Long lower links and pto.
Paid twice what you paid 🤔

Drill a 40mm hole in a piece 20mm thick, then tack weld it in the correct position over the hole and run the 40mm broach through it,your top plate keeps it in position.👍How are Mag drills at honing out an oblong hole?
The Lemken Tansanit needs a little bit of repairs, a 30mm pin has worn the connector plates badly and I am wondering would I be able to redrill the hole at 40mm with my Mag drill and put in a bigger pin?
